Key points

1
One sentence, your own words. The introduction tells the examiner what the chart is about. No numbers, no trends, no opinions. Paraphrase the first sentence of the question.
2
Answer three questions. What kind of visual is it? What does it measure? Where and when?
3
Four paraphrasing tools. 1) Name the visual exactly (line graph, bar chart). 2) Change the verb (illustrates, compares, presents, gives details of) and keep it in the present simple. 3) Change words or word forms (percentage → proportion; did regular exercise → exercised regularly). 4) Change the time phrase (between 2012 and 2022 → from 2012 to 2022, over a ten-year period).
4
Keep the facts. Names of places, numbers, years and units stay exactly the same. If there's no safe synonym, keep the word and change the rest of the sentence.
5
Three common mistakes. Copying the question word for word; changing the meaning (prices are not tickets sold); adding numbers or trends, which belong in the overview. Spend no more than two minutes.
The example question from the video

The graph below shows the number of people who visited three public libraries in a town between 2012 and 2022.

Model introductions from the video (140 words)

Line graph. The line graph illustrates how many visitors three public libraries in one town received over a ten-year period, from 2012 to 2022.

Bar chart (question: the percentage of adults who did regular exercise in four countries in 2000 and 2020). The bar chart compares the proportion of adults who exercised regularly in Japan, Brazil, Kenya and Sweden in 2000 and 2020.

Pie charts (question: the main types of household waste collected in one town in 2000 and 2020). The two pie charts break down the household rubbish collected in one town into five main categories, in 2000 and 2020.

Table (question: the average price of a cinema ticket in five countries in 2015 and 2025). The table presents the average cost of going to the cinema in five countries, comparing ticket prices in 2015 with those in 2025.
